Climate Justice and Human Rights
Climate change has been called the defining challenge for development of the 21st century and there is a widespread call for a human rights based approach to combatting its effects. A human rights approach to climate justice recognises and makes explicit the human face of climate change – in many cases, the human cost. As important and profound as the impact on the natural world may be – loss of species, loss of habitats, bleached coral reefs, shrinking polar ice and more – there are also significant impacts on people.
