Human rights... plans allegedly costing taxpayers £600 million in compensation bills.
Nor are human rights a "trump... and polarises the debate.
In fact human rights underpin the public interest, not any vested interest... land and people.
Secondly, internationally agreed human rights provide the framework and guidance... with the international human rights framework.
This framework includes but goes beyond the European Convention Human

The Commission is Scotland’s National Human Rights Institution. We are set up in law to protect people’s rights...The Scottish Human Rights Commission has laid its Annual Report for 2023-24 before the Scottish Parliament.
The report highlights our work to engage with people’s lived experiences of human rights... people in the Highlands and Islands, to explore human rights concerns in areas such as healthcare, housing and transport.
We also collaborated with human rights defenders to call for faster progress
Forensic Mental Health Review
The Review looked at the delivery of forensic mental health services in hospitals, prisons and the community, where there are significant gaps in provision. The Commission supported the Barron Review to take a human rights based approach to its work.
There remains a need for action on the recommendations of the Review and to improve the delivery of human rights for those experiencing mental health issues in prison and forensic settings.
