A humanrights-based approach involves applying the principles of participation, accountability, non-discrimination, empowerment and legality to addressing an issue. The Commission is working with See Me to help embed a humanrights-based approach in the work it supports to end mental health stigma and discrimination.
Poverty represents a failure to fulfil a range of humanrights including the right to an adequate standard of living, including adequate food, housing and the right to earn a decent living.
