About the Commission
The Scottish HumanRights Commission is an independent public body... to promote awareness, understanding and respect for all humanrights – economic, social, cultural, civil... to humanrights.
The Commission has powers to recommend changes to law, policy and practice; promote humanrights through education, training and publishing research; and to conduct inquiries... in the Scottish Commission for HumanRights Act 2006.

The Commission's role in the UPR
As Scotland's nationalhumanrightsinstitution the Scottish HumanRights Commission has a distinct role in the review process. We contribute evidence, support civil society organisations to take part in the process, and have speaking rights at the HumanRights Council. We also monitor the implementation of recommendations following the review.
