We have shared our report with the Scottish Government, the Scottish Prison Service and other key stakeholders, including those who advise and advocate for prisoners and their families. We are committed to follow up work to ensure our concerns are acknowledged and acted upon.
We will also share our findings with relevant Committees of the Scottish Parliament, including the Criminal Justice Committee and the Equalities, Human Rights and Civil Justice Committee.
We will distribute this report
In 2024, we published a report highlighting significant failures to meet human rights standards in the Highlands and Islands. Many people were unable to afford housing, to heat their homes or to travel to access healthcare.
In January 2025, the Scottish Parliament held a debate on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in the Highlands and Islands, in direct response to our findings. Find out more about more about our work in the Highlands and Islands.
