The Commission welcomes the Mental Welfare Commission’s report into discharges of adults with incapacity from hospitals to care homes during the pandemic. The report shines a light on practices which may amount to a deprivation of liberty under the European Convention on HumanRights. Importantly... We look forward to the Scottish Government’s response to the Mental Welfare Commission’s report.
The Commission is monitoring the use of new technologies within operational policing and has raised concerns about the potential humanrights impacts of the use of these new technologies, particularly in relation to respect for privacy and family life, due process and the right to a fair trial and protection of democratic freedoms e.g. freedom of expression, peaceful assembly and association and freedom of thought, conscience and religion.

The Scottish HumanRights Commission (the Commission) invites interested parties to submit an application to undertake a short piece of research to inform the Commission’s submission to the UN Committee on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women as part of the periodic review of the United Kingdom. The Commission intends to submit shadow reports for both the pre-session, taking place in July 2018, and for the full review which will be held in February 2019. The research
