The Scottish Human Rights Commission has today published its contribution to the national discussion on creating a Fairer Scotland.
A new briefing, 'Creating a Fairer Scotland: A Human Rights Based Approach to Tackling Poverty', outlines the international human rights standards that underpin social justice and makes a series of recommendations to help realise rights in a fairer Scotland.
On 9 September, the Commission is hosting a round table discussion on human rights in a Fairer Scotland
The three 'A' status national human rights institutions in the UK – the Equality and Human Rights Commission, the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and the Scottish Human Rights Commission – have issued a joint statement on violence against women. The statement has been released in response to a report from the United Nations Human Rights Council's Special Rapporteur following her visit to the UK in 2014.
