The UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) is an international human rights agreement written by and for disabled people. Forensic Mental Health Review  The Review looked at the delivery of forensic mental health services in hospitals, prisons and the community, where there are significant gaps in provision.  The Commission supported the Barron Review to take a human rights based approach to its work.  There remains a need for action on the recommendations of the Review and to improve the delivery of human rights for those experiencing mental health issues in prison and forensic settings. UKIM publish their report on Monitoring the Implementation of the UN Disability Convention

of the independent Human Rights and Equality Commissions across the UK. These are the Scottish Human Rights Commission, the Northern Ireland Equality Commission, the Northern Ireland Human Rights Commission and the Equality and Human Rights Commission. This report has been informed by consultation with disabled... the Convention once they begin their first ever review of the UK's record on the human rights... determine our priorities for monitoring.
