About the Commission
The Scottish HumanRights Commission is an independent public body... to promote awareness, understanding and respect for all humanrights – economic, social, cultural, civil... to humanrights.
The Commission has powers to recommend changes to law, policy and practice; promote humanrights through education, training and publishing research; and to conduct inquiries... in the Scottish Commission for HumanRights Act 2006.

Recent Developments
In October 2021, a landmark resolution was adopted by the United Nations HumanRights Council, recognising the universal human right to a safe, clean, healthy and sustainable... and Indigenous Peoples.
A resolution was also adopted on the creation of a Special Rapporteur on humanrights... expressly in their constitutions, national and/or regional law.

The Commission is Scotland'sNationalHumanRights Institution (NHRI). NHRIs... and international arenas. They apply international humanrights standards on the national level... to account for their humanrights obligations. They also help shape laws, policies and attitudes... by the Office of the High Commissioner for HumanRights (OHCHR).
