The Commission has written to the Clinical and Professional Advisory Group for Care Homes in Scotland, setting out a range of humanrights considerations that should be taken into account in developing guidance on visiting for adult care homes in the context of COVID-19.
The Commission has recently been contacted by members of the public expressing their ongoing concern at the arrangements for visiting residents of Scotland’s care homes during the pandemic. It is also an issue which has been

The Scottish HumanRights Commission welcomes the launch of Redress Scotland, which marks the opening of a financial redress scheme for survivors of historical abuse in care.

By listening to the lived experiences of residents and organisations in the area, as well as through our humanrights treaty monitoring work, we identified specific issues affecting rural and island communities, such as:
Slow and inaccessible health care services
Lack of affordable housing
Limited access to sufficient and nutritious food
