The Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body is now recruiting for three part-time Commissioners to join the Scottish HumanRights Commission in summer 2022.

The Commission has written to the Clinical and Professional Advisory Group for Care Homes in Scotland, setting out a range of humanrights considerations that should be taken into account in developing guidance on visiting for adult care homes in the context of COVID-19.
The Commission has recently been contacted by members of the public expressing their ongoing concern at the arrangements for visiting residents of Scotland’s care homes during the pandemic. It is also an issue which has been
root and flourish.
"We also need to reach out. I am here because I am chair of the Scottish HumanRights Commission and I was thinking about what humanrights teaches us in these circumstances... the right to good information and information about our rights.
"We need to talk about these rights. We need to hold our public authorities to account for delivering on these rights and we need to reach into communities where these rights are being denied and empower people to lay claim to something
The Scottish HumanRights Commission has expressed concerns about the Scottish Government’s proposals to end automatic early release of long-term offenders.
Professor Alan Miller, Chair of the Commission, said:
“The Commission has previously expressed concerns about the humanrights implications of the Prisoners (Control of Release) (Scotland) Bill, both in terms of its potential impact... detail in the coming weeks and will offer further evidence on their humanrights implications
