We will use our findings to push for urgent action on outstanding recommendations where progress is too slow. We will share this report with a range of bodies to allow progress to be assessed and tracked over time.

We have been particularly concerned about the lack of available data for monitoring in the Highlands and Islands, when compared with the rest of Scotland. By listening to the lived experiences of residents and organisations in the area, as well as through our human rights treaty monitoring work, we identified specific issues affecting rural and island communities, such as:

Limited access to sufficient and nutritious

The Scottish Human Rights Commission (the Commission) invites interested parties to submit an application to undertake a short piece of research to inform the Commission’s submission to the UN Committee on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women as part of the periodic review of the United Kingdom.
