In Scotland, our humanrights are protected by international and domestic law. These laws should help to prevent breaches of our rights and provide us with routes to access justice when things go wrong.
Yet too often, people in Scotland are experiencing humanrights denials and facing barriers that prevent them from accessing justice.

The Scottish Government today (12 December) published its proposals on Scotland’s Place in Europe. The Commission welcomes that humanrights and social protections are recognised as one of Scotland’s interests to be protected going forward. This commitment to advancing, not weakening, humanrights protections must now be carried forward by both the UK and Scottish Governments in whatever changes are to follow.
