The Scottish Human Rights Commission has today welcomed the publication of the Children (Equal Protection from Assault) (Scotland) Bill, a Members Bill which would remove the defence of 'justifiable assault' in relation to physical punishment of children.
Judith Robertson, Chair of the Commission, said:
"This Bill is a welcome opportunity to make progress on this important human rights issue..., so we hope to see the Bill pass into law."
