The Scottish Human Rights Commission has today welcomed the publication of the Children (Equal Protection from Assault) (Scotland) Bill, a Members Bill which would remove the defence of 'justifiable assault' in relation to physical punishment of children.
Judith Robertson, Chair of the Commission, said:

The Scottish Human Rights Commission has written to the Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Humza Yousaf MSP, raising ongoing concerns about the management of COVID-19 in Scotland's prisons... the rights of people who live and work in Scotland's prisons.
