A HumanRights Based Approach to Health
The Commission works with others to help put humanrights at the heart of health and social care services in Scotland.
From 2013 to 2018, we played an active role in the Health and Social Care Action Group, convened through Scotland’s NationalActionPlan for HumanRights.
As part of this, we worked with NHS Health Scotland and the Health and Social Care Alliance to produce a series of case studies illustrating humanrights in practice in health
The InterAction Plan Review Group met for the final time in March 2022, following which it wrote to the Deputy First Minister summarising progress made and providing concluding comments.

In 2017, to inform our own work, and to provide insights for other organisations working to advance humanrights, the Commission contracted research specialists YouGov Plc to get a better understanding of the current knowledge and attitudes towards humanrights among people in Scotland. The findings demonstrate strong support for humanrights in Scotland, but also areas where more work is required to build understanding and support for humanrights. This report summarises the findings.
