Statement: Transition between Chairs
Over the coming months, the Scottish Human Rights Commission will be in a period of transition. Judith Robertson demitted office as Chair of the Commission on 11th March and we expect that her successor, Ian Duddy, will take up office in early June.
At the same time, the Commission is currently experiencing significant levels of senior staff absence due to illness and turnover in some key posts.
During this period, the Commission will continue to deliver its core functions and we remain operational. However, we will have very limited capacity to respond to requests to take part in events and meetings not already scheduled, or to provide media commentary, engage in new areas of policy and legislative scrutiny, or to deliver training and capacity building support.
We look forward to Ian taking up office as the next Chair of the Commission in June, and to being back up to full capacity in our staff team as soon as possible.
