Invitation to Tender - Incorporation of International Human Rights Standards

We are inviting interested parties to tender for a research project on incorporation of economic and social rights in Scotland.

The Commission has long supported and advocated for the “incorporation” or domestic justiciability of international standards, particularly economic and social rights.

The current Scottish context of Brexit, potential changes to the Human Rights Act and the stated ambition of the Scottish Government to advance economic and social rights protection makes it timely to consider in more detail both why and how this agenda may be advanced.

This is why we are delivering a series of five thematic workshops in 2017/18 on the following themes:

  • Right to Social Security
  • Right to Food
  • Right to Housing
  • Right to Health
  • Strengthening Economic and Social Rights Protection in Scotland.

The Commission is seeking to commission an external researcher to draft a report that will support and inform the final workshop.

Those interested in tendering for the contract can download the full brief here.

The deadline for receipt of applications is Wednesday 25th October.  Applications should be no longer than four pages (12 point, standard space, excluding annexes).

Please send applications to research@scottishhumanrights.com

Applicants may be contacted by email or telephone to clarify their proposal. The Commission aims to inform all applicants of its decision by 1 November 2017.
