The Scottish Parliament

The 10th International Conference of National Human Rights Institutions will take place at the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh. The building was designed to reflect the Parliament’s founding principles of openness, accountability, the sharing of power and equal opportunities. It sits at the foot of Edinburgh's famous Royal Mile in front of the spectacular Holyrood Park and Salisbury Crags.

The Scottish Parliament is a secure building and has airport-style security at the Main Entrance. Delegates will be given a conference pass at Registration, and this should be worn throughout the conference.

Travel to and from the Airport

All participants are responsible for arranging their own travel. Edinburgh International Airport is well served by direct flights from Europe, and hub flights from London, Amsterdam and Paris. To travel into the city centre from the airport there are taxis available from the taxi rank outside the main entrance which do not need to be booked in advance (£24 - £28 one way), or taxis can be reserved in advance.

The Airlink bus service operates on a shuttle basis to the heart of the city centre, a short walk from hotels and the Scottish Parliament. This takes around 25 minutes and costs £6 return. Tickets can be purchased from the bus stand outside the main entrance of the Airport with cash or by credit card. Once within the city centre there is a comprehensive local bus service and taxis can also be hailed from the street or by your hotel concierge.

Accomodation

All participants are responsible for booking their own accomodation. More information on Edinburgh accomodation is on the Edinburgh Tourist Board website.
