Kavita Chetty

Kavita is a qualified lawyer and legal officer for the Commission. Kavita is experienced in designing and delivering human rights capacity building projects in both the public and private sectors. Prior to working with the Commission, Kavita specialised in business and human rights advising global business across a range of sectors on how to proactively manage their human rights responsibilities in countries such as Sudan, India, Bangladesh and South Africa.
For the past two years Kavita has led the work of the Commission in promoting a human rights based approach to the delivery of care and support services for older people in Scotland through the Care about Rights training and awareness raising project. Kavita has shared some of the lessons of this work internationally with UN Open Ended Working Group on Ageing (link) and has spent time working with New Zealand Human Rights Commission Equal Employment Opportunities team (link) on their inquiry into the age care sector. 
Other areas of interest and work for the Commission include procurement and human rights (link) and human rights impact assessment (link). Kavita has a masters in international human rights law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (link).
