Duncan Wilson

Duncan Wilson

Duncan is Head of Strategy and Legal at the Commission. He graduated in law from the University of Edinburgh, followed by a Masters in International Human Rights Law from Lund University. He is a part-time lecturer with the Human Rights Centre at the University of Essex, and member of the Steering Committee of the Right to Education Project, as well as a long-standing collaborator in the Jean Picet competition on international humanitarian law. Before joining the Commission Duncan was Head of the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights team at Amnesty International. He has worked for several international bodies, and was the research coordinator for the first UN Special Rapporteur on the right to education; human rights consultant to UNESCO International Bureau of Education and Division of Basic Education; researcher at the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, and was Rapporteur on education rights for the Council of Europe fifth anniversary conference on the Framework Convention for the protection of National Minorities. As well as delivering teaching and training, Duncan has authored numerous articles, reports and manuals on human rights including Amnesty International, Human Rights for Human Dignity: a primer on economic, social and cultural rights.
